Our October Battle & Compete Camp is designed to develop the skills players need to compete harder, protect the puck and make an impact in game situations.
Each morning will begin with a dedicated development section focusing on:
• Skating technique
• Edgework and agility
• Puck control and individual skills
• Explosive movement and changes of direction
We then turn up the intensity.
Players will move into battle and compete drills, working on areas including:
• 1v1 and 2v2 battles
• Puck protection
• Winning loose pucks
• Competing along the boards
• Net-front battles
• Offensive and defensive pressure
• Small-area games
• Decision-making under pressure
• Game-like compete situations
Players will be placed into capability groups, allowing coaches to adjust the pace, physicality and difficulty of drills to provide the right challenge for each player.
Phil Smith – SWIHA Academy Head Coach and assistant NIHL1 Coach
Ryan Wells – Swindon Wildcats - Canadian import - Defenseman
Caden Villagas – Swindon Wildcats - USA import - Forward
Renny Marr – Swindon Wildcats - NIHL - GB - Scottish - Netminder
Plus additional Level 1/2 coaches
Netminders aren't simply an add-on to the main camp.
Renny Marr will lead a dedicated Netminding programme, giving goalies focused positional coaching and development before bringing them into the main camp.
The programme will work on areas including:
• Positioning and angles
• Movement and crease control
• Reactions
• Tracking and reading the play
• Rebound control
• Game situations and decision-making
Netminders will complete their dedicated programme during the first section of each day, before joining the main Battle & Compete Camp for the second half.
Renny will continue to work with and guide the netminders as they face live shooters, battle drills and game situations - allowing them to put their technical work straight into practice.
The camp is open to players across the age groups.
Players will be grouped according to age and capability, rather than expecting players of very different experience levels to complete the same drills at the same intensity.
Whether you're looking to sharpen your skills, become stronger in puck battles or add more compete to your game, the aim is simple:
TRAIN HARD. COMPETE. GET BETTER.
