HOCKEY INSPIRED – MID SEASON RELOAD 🏒

Presented by SWIHA

📅 28th & 29th December 2026
7:00am–10:15am each day
🏒 6 hours total ice time
💷 £150 per player
👥 Suitable for all ages – players grouped by age and capability

The first half of the season is done. Now it's time to reset, reload and get ready to finish strong.

Our Mid Season Reload Camp is focused on the details players need in games – taking the skills they already have and applying them more effectively in game situations.

Each morning will begin with a technical development session focusing on:

• Skating and edgework
• Explosive movement and changes of direction
• Puck control
• Shooting technique
• Shooting in stride and under pressure
• Quick release and finishing

We then move into game-focused development, working on the situations players encounter every week during their season.

🏒 GAME BREAKOUTS
Zone exits, neutral-zone play, creating passing options, supporting the puck carrier and moving the puck effectively out of pressure.

🏒 FACE-OFFS
Technique, positioning, competing for possession and understanding individual responsibilities before and immediately after the draw.

🏒 TRANSITIONS
Turning defence into attack, recognising opportunities, reacting quickly to turnovers and supporting the play.

🏒 OFFENSIVE & DEFENSIVE STRUCTURE
Understanding positioning away from the puck, creating space, defensive responsibilities, communication and support.

🏒 GAME IQ & DECISION-MAKING
Reading the play, making quicker decisions under pressure and recognising when to pass, shoot, carry or support.

🏒 SPECIAL TEAMS & GAME SITUATIONS
Developing awareness in power-play, penalty-kill and other game-specific scenarios.

All of this will be brought together through game-like drills, small-area situations and compete exercises so players can practise making those decisions at game speed.

Players will be placed into age and capability groups, allowing the coaching team to adjust the pace, complexity and challenge appropriately.

COACHING TEAM

Phil Smith – SWIHA Academy Head Coach and assistant NIHL1 Coach

Ryan Wells – Swindon Wildcats - Canadian import - Defenseman

Caden Villagas – Swindon Wildcats - USA import - Forward

Renny Marr – Swindon Wildcats - NIHL - GB - Scottish - Netminder
Plus additional Level 1/2 coaches

🥅 DEDICATED NETMINDING PROGRAMME

Renny Marr will lead our dedicated netminding programme.

Netminders will complete their specialist programme during the first section of each morning, working specifically on:

• Positioning and angles
• Movement and crease control
• Reactions
• Tracking the puck
• Rebound control
• Reading developing plays
• Game positioning and decision-making

They will then join the main camp for the second half of each day, putting those skills into practice against live shooters and within realistic game situations.

Renny will continue to guide and coach the netminders throughout this section, giving them the opportunity to apply their technical work directly to breakouts, transitions, shooting drills and game scenarios.

This isn't about starting again.

It's about identifying the small details that can improve your game and taking them into the second half of the season.

RESET. RELOAD. COMPETE. FINISH STRONG.
